Boogie Oogie Oogie...

Don't vintage photographs just make you smile? Here's a couple of goody oldies of the Fitzgeralds. Currently [slowly] ploughing through one of my birthday presents (which was the entire collection of Fitzgerald's works... and although his penchant for verbosity and constant imagery can be quite... erm...   annoying, it paints you this vivid picture of what life must have been like during the Roaring Twenties. Fun, fun, fun. With loads of black market booze. How interesting.

Anyways, the photos are darling, yes? I kind of think they are.

Traaa for now!

Dreadheads// Bukola Elemide aka Asa...

Miss Bukola Elemide throws it down ALWAYS. And right now, I am jizzing over her style altogether; music, dress, presentation, everything. I like when a stylist can incorporate a person's personality into their outfits... The icing on the cake of Visual presentation...

... Plus, I loveeee the fact that she's singing barefoot. Something about that resonates with me lol. And the ankle bracelets are toooooooo pretty!

... And I didn't forget about the artistry of the song either. LOVE it.

Solo-dicted...

The title says it all. I am a self diagnosed, self confessed Solange Knowles fan. Been begging her on Twitter to gift me with her lovely Prada sunglasses that I so very dearly covet.  Alas, no retweets or replies. For this, my heart is saddened. OH WELLZT.

Still love her though...

Remember this? She wrote it!!!!! The woman is a genius!

Happy Friday!

Great Minds// People you should know...

Just listen. I can guarantee you that you will love the simplicity of the beat, the neo- soul vibe very reminiscent of early hip hoppers. Think A Tribe Called Quest, but with British accents. Go Londoners!!!! I love the nostalgic feel of the video, the almost poetic rhymes, and just... Well... Everything in general... Been on repeat for awhile now...

Ahhh, I am excited for more from these boys. Love it!

Toodles!

Styletroduction... Babydolls//Best Friends...

I've tried, to no avail, to steal this candy necklace from her. One day.... *muffled laughter*

Another 'Styletroduction' feature!
Meet the bestfriend/sister from another mother Dotun!
She also masquerades as my other brain, and is the best shopping partner one could have. Remember my post about impulse buying? Yeerrp. She's the best one to go with for spontaneous shopping!

A second year Pharmacy student (our lives have pretty much been interchangeable since high school... wherever Dot is, Seyi is also). We make an amazing tag team, except i'm SURE she's stalking me, seeing as we go to the same university, live in the same house, AND study the same course.

But then again, you all are witnesses to how 'cool' I am. Not surprising that I have stalkers right?

Her style is very cutesy, babydoll - esque which is truly befitting for her personality altogether. Her wardrobe is a compilation of high street, unknown shops, boutiques and charity shops with a smidgen of vintage thrown in. She's not a vintage kid, neither is she a hipster, or a gypsy, or a posh totty. But she has elements of all these things in her style, which I find fascinating, because she doesn't limit her style to one category. I love the simplicity of her style and how she doesn't dress to be 'trendy' or 'fashionable'; for her, comfort is a necessity.

And she is workin' the straw hat and the candy beads!

Toodles and Cup Noodles!

Styletroduction... The Panache Files...

Don't you just love the Poetic Justice braids?

Hi guyyysss! The hiatus from blogsville was not intentional, but was probably my subconscious trying to wean me off my obsession with cyberspace...

I've cut myself off I start off on another one of my rants. I shall just go on to introduce one of the coolest people I have been privileged to meet during my university experience. She's of that rare, exquisite breed of weird that only usually exists in my head, you know, because I'm cool and whatnot.

Guys meet Yemisi!

A second year Law student who also has a fierce dancing talent, and, as you can see, also has an amazing sense of style. Her wardrobe is an eclectic mix of vintage, high street, and just whatever in general... What is amazing about her style is how effortless it is. LOVE!

So, here it is, the first of these 'feature' thingiesssss, I guess. I'm getting courageous with telling the world about this little ole bloggie of mine.

Oh... And in all acts of randomness, as well as staying true to my dream of wanting to become a flapper/burlesque dancer, I bring to you this throwback jammer of a video that kick started my obsession with wanting to be born anytime between the 20s and 50s.

Odabo (Goodbye in Yoruba, that is)

Deola Sagoe Autumn/Winter '11 - 'Oh Fashion, I love Thee'

Hi beautiful people! Hope you have had (or are having) a wonderful Sunday? I know I am! Yes. In fact, at this precise moment, thoughts of particles and drug formulations are what I am consumed with.

Or, perhaps not;  given that I am about to embark upon a rant about fashion again, suggesting that I am merely drifting in and out of this revision 'bizniz' and not solely focused on pharmaceutics. But I am not really to be blamed for this entirely. I just cannot help myself from clicking away and blog stalking during my very lengthy breaks, which are OBVIOUSLY much deserved.

But, I digress. Back to the topic at hand.

So, anyway, I was perusing one of the tumblr blogs I frequent, which just happens to be my very beautiful cousin's blog. All you tumblr lovers, go check it out here, she's, well, given that no other words will express this in its entirety, too dope. Despite my inadequacy at working tumblr, I manage to understand how to get around hers without letting off a fire alarm.  Okay. A tad bit exaggerated, but it makes for good, light hearted reading, si?

RIGHT! I was on her blog during my seventeenth break in the last two hours, and lo and behold. What do I see? Yes. You guessed right. I am privileged to witness a sneak peek of  Deola Sagoe's Autumn/Winter '11 collection.

I think the exact words I used on twitter would be 'jizzed'. Yurp. I'm so jizzed. Not even sure I even know what that means, but, oh well eh?

Every time I speak of couture, and how obsessed I am with collections that I probably will never be able to afford in this lifetime and the next, my friends always attack me with the same statement:

'Seyi, I really do not know why you bother with all this fashion; the clothes don't look normal, and it's not like you can afford it!'

Obviously, times like these usually involve my sheer amazement at the design and artistry of the collections that I have nothing to say to them, except gawk and gawk even more at the beautiful pieces. Call me what you may, I love loving clothes. I would delve into a thesis about why it would be inappropriate to call the embodiment of fashion 'just clothes', but, alas, there is not enough time.

Deola Sagoe as a fashion powerhouse in Nigeria, and as a designer, never fails to disappoint. Japanese inspiration is evident in the pieces, with the intricate fan detailing and the kimonos. And nothing says Deola Sagoe better than an influx of 'African-ness' right?

I love the use of lace. Exudes uber femininity... Ahhh it feels like the dress was literally painted on the model's body.

O...kayyy. I think I need to exit the building.
Goodbye guys! Hope you enjoy the collection as much as I do!

Aloha! Must get back to... ahem... my "work"..

Feel free to drop comments and tell me what you think!

Fly away Peter, Fly away Paul...

I have finally come to my senses/seen the light/ reached an epiphany. My exams are in less than a month, and, despite my childish whining sessions about how torturous my course is (Masters in Pharmacy, lest you did not know), I would quite like a  First Class, par Dieu.

Therefore, I shall be going away for awhile. Gotta get my act together and begin the gruelling process of  getting indecipherable chemicals and the like into my brain.

Do not miss me too much! I shall be back!

Perhaps, even sooner than you think.

So, I leave you with a few bits and bobs of  things I am inspired by at the moment.

 jakandjil.com

Photograph I took of this marsh I used to walk through during summer last year on my way to work... Such serenity and calm. An angel-faced Edie Sedgewick; her face is a beauty to behold. Dr Martens and dotted tights; I am in love. Molly Ringwald aka Andie in Pretty in Pink - one of my favourite outfits from one of my favourite movies.YSL slanted wedges - OMG, shoelust.com/ineedsmearichhusband. TOTAL PANACHE//My cyber boyfriend. *fans self*. Arlenis Sosa for Harpers Bazaar Australia - LOVE. Her eyes are unfair, as is the nail polish that I cannot find anywhere... Josie and the Pussycats! Need I explain further?. Wise words. and FINALLY, Yours truly looking like a total dork.

*Can't remember where I got some of these pictures; been acquiring them on ze laptop for awhile now... Sorry!*

Till next time! Don't forget to eat your veggies!

Loveeeeee and chocolate syrup,

Me.

Picture thievery and other random happenings at 3.25am....

Florence Welch is just too bloomin' amazin'. I cannot keep up with her coolness. Like really.

Duckies, brogues, and double denim? My kinda gal.
the bike however? not my scene. I already walk into doors, falling off bikes - not so tempting, gracias.

:O :O :O omg. David Gandy. No words. No words!

... And, yours truly, today. After my ABBA rendition at the bar on campus. Cool times. Ze earrings truly proclaim my whole thoughts on how I spent this beautiful day. Total, American girl 'OhMyGosh' exclamations all round. Especially when a couple of us girls began singing Aretha's 'Natural Woman' to this couple we had NEVER MET IN OUR LIVES.
Spontaneity (and acting silly) is fun, when the sun's out.

I should go to bed now, and stop fantasizing about David Gandy's eyes. Yep.
My eyes are twitching mercilessly anyway. Such things usually happen when you begin a lab report at 3am on the day it is meant to be submitted. Yeah. Priorities again. I know.

Goodnight for now!

The Y chromosomers...

Ahhh... Boys.

Testosterone filled humans. The ones we love to pretend to hate so they can pretend to love us until they realise the love they feel for us, is in fact, the real thing. I know. We're quite cool humans, us women are...

I'm hoping you understand what my beginning paragraph was meant to signify. I haven't a clue what message even I was trying to pass across.

But I digress. No, I don't, considering my point has not been put across yet. The point, my beloved readers, is the fact that  I realised most of my musings on men's fashion is never translated on this thing. And since this is my domain to exclaim in my overtly hyperbolic manner, I figure I might as well talk about that also on here.

I love men's style. There is a slight difference between my love for men's style and women's, because a stylish man is an attractive man. Simply put. And that is not meant to be shallow in any way or form. It's just, clothes, nicely assembled, well put together on the male form is my Achilles heel.   A man who can wear his clothes with an effortless air of panache.

Yeah. Panache again. I like the word. Sue me. Which, finally, brings me to the fashiony-washiony bit of this post: Junya Watanabe's Fall collection.

Ohmygiddiness. Have you ever seen anything so proper? Well... Okay, possibly, but I warned you about the hyperboles I so very much love to use. I peeped this collection awhile ago, but it is still one of my favourites of the season. So refreshingly dapper. No nonsense, not focused on keeping up with the 'trend', just simple style. I labelled the coat-cardiganesque blazers 'coatigans', because 'blazigans' just do not sound as nice.

So... Yeah. The collection, without further ado...

I really love the 'Ye Olde English Gentlemen' vibes. Plus the geek cool undertones... I love me some geeky boys. Really.

*style.com pictures,once again*
And. I. AM. A. TOTAL. SUCKER. FOR. ANKLE SWINGERS. (Ankle swingers...PAHAHA)

And pin-rolled trousers. Oh dizzums.

I must take my leave now though...

Goodbye!

The friendies...

InCASE you were wondering...

... none of these photos are mine, s'il vous plait. Unless you happen to see pictures of yours truly or whatever (which I beg you to ask for permission before you acquire), I own no claims whatsoever to the images.

Many thanks,
She.
