Booyah! // Emotions and all that love jazz...
I like my body when it is with your body. It is so quite a new thing. Muscles better and nerves more. I like your body. I like what it does, I like its hows. I like to feel the spine of your body and its bones, and the trembling -firm-smooth ness and which i will again and again and again kiss, i like kissing this and that of you, i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes over parting flesh . . . . And eyes big love-crumbs, and possibly i like the thrill of under me you quite so new
- E E Cummings.
This has got to be one of my favourite poeeeeeeeeeems! definitely very risqué, but what is a painting without colours?
Have I mentioned recently how I am one of those people that love/wholly understand the power of imagery in literature?
Well. Yeah. Just wanted to let you all in on a bit of my Literary obsessions. Enough about the fashion for now lol.

The Y chromosomers...
Ahhh... Boys.
Testosterone filled humans. The ones we love to pretend to hate so they can pretend to love us until they realise the love they feel for us, is in fact, the real thing. I know. We're quite cool humans, us women are...
I'm hoping you understand what my beginning paragraph was meant to signify. I haven't a clue what message even I was trying to pass across.
But I digress. No, I don't, considering my point has not been put across yet. The point, my beloved readers, is the fact that I realised most of my musings on men's fashion is never translated on this thing. And since this is my domain to exclaim in my overtly hyperbolic manner, I figure I might as well talk about that also on here.
I love men's style. There is a slight difference between my love for men's style and women's, because a stylish man is an attractive man. Simply put. And that is not meant to be shallow in any way or form. It's just, clothes, nicely assembled, well put together on the male form is my Achilles heel. A man who can wear his clothes with an effortless air of panache.
Yeah. Panache again. I like the word. Sue me. Which, finally, brings me to the fashiony-washiony bit of this post: Junya Watanabe's Fall collection.
Ohmygiddiness. Have you ever seen anything so proper? Well... Okay, possibly, but I warned you about the hyperboles I so very much love to use. I peeped this collection awhile ago, but it is still one of my favourites of the season. So refreshingly dapper. No nonsense, not focused on keeping up with the 'trend', just simple style. I labelled the coat-cardiganesque blazers 'coatigans', because 'blazigans' just do not sound as nice.
So... Yeah. The collection, without further ado...
I really love the 'Ye Olde English Gentlemen' vibes. Plus the geek cool undertones... I love me some geeky boys. Really.
*style.com pictures,once again*
And. I. AM. A. TOTAL. SUCKER. FOR. ANKLE SWINGERS. (Ankle swingers...PAHAHA)
And pin-rolled trousers. Oh dizzums.
I must take my leave now though...
Goodbye!

"You with the sad eyes..."
...I've noticed that of recent, my post titles tend to be quotes; unauthentic and stolen from other great minds. Take this post title, for example. It has nothing to do with anything, it just so happens that my iTunes has decided to play the Glee version of Jill Scott and Fredro Starr's 'True Colours' at this precise moment, thus leading to its name.
Not that I would have thought of an appropriate post title anyway. But... Oh well. These things happen.
We shall begin, before I go off on another pointless rant on this thing. It's almost going on 2am here, I have a test tomorrow that I know pretty much NOTHING about (I promise I am not a slobby university student who is at uni simply for the 'experience' and the 'bursaries'. I actually want to secure myself a future of some sort... Buuuut, trust me when I say that studying Pharmacy is not for the faint hearted) , and blogging is what has taken my interest right now. Earlier, I was trying on all the shoes in my wardrobe, before that, I was wowing the people on twitter with mindless, unneccesary information (a la the existential purpose of twitter), and even before that, I gave myself a break to get myself a MUCH DESERVED Skittles milkshake.
Do not fret; despite my warped prioritization skills, I have resigned myself to the fact that I will not be sleeping tonight. It has to be done, eh?
Anyways, to the matter at hand. I have noticed yet another trend within my age group. Boys are falling in love, girls are falling in love with love, everyone's listening to Esperanza's 'Fall In' on repeat, girls are sighing and looking wistfully into oblivion during those uber romantic scenes in movies (YES.. Okay. I fall into this category...) and as a result, news of emerging relationships are reaching me as quickly as Facebook status updates. Is it just me, or is it the same everywhere else?
Added to the fact that we are about ushering the WONDERFUL MONTHS OF SUMMER in. I know what you're thinking. Relationships and summer are like, the best combinations ever invented.
Only after PB&J sandwiches though.
But, yeah. Relationships. I honestly do not know what to make of them. I really wanted one during the winter months, so I could be the proud owner of a six-foot something, Boris Kodjoe looking, guitar-toting, personal radiator. Note that I used the word 'own'. It's bad, I know. Priorities again, right? I'm still at that point where I want a relationship more for the aesthetic, Hollywood instilled reasons. For emotional stability; to be a constant in my life. The guy I could demand a cuddle from at the most unreasonable of moments, or who would let me babble on and on... and on... about how Miuiccia's shoes are a godsend, even when he has no CLUE whatsoever if Miuiccia is a brand of vormicelli, talk less of being human.
I haven't even given any thought to what HE might want from me. Not once. Not ever. My idea of an ideal relationship is always based on how much he can do for me, never once stopping to think about his feelings. Like, how he'd probably expect me to understand that when he's playing those silly games or watching some sport or the other, he is not to be disturbed?
... I guess, for right now, at this point in my life, listening to Esperanza croon about how she's found heaven by falling in love should be as far as my 'relationship' dreams go.
As well as constantly watching this video...
...Because I don't want to 'end up with HIM'. Deep stuff yo.
I must exeunt now!!!
Off to try and get some information about bacteria into my brain.
So long lovelies!

'You give me the sweetest taboo...'// Holly Fulton for London Fashion Week '11
The post title is, in fact, somewhat correlated to the post this time. So I guess congratulations are in order!
More congratulations are in order as well, as I am no longer talking to myself on here! Alas, I have friends; people who are 'following' the ramblings of my OBVIOUSLY sane mind! Welcome guys, thank you so much for joining the party! As a result of this new development, I shall blog more often... And, about meaningful things (I will try, I promise I will)!
Once again, I am like so like totally like BOMBED that I like have followers. (The use of American vernacular is definitely essential, so as to make you realize the depth of my excitement.)
Okay. Maybe I told a little fib; about the title relating to the post herein. It does, simply because I wanted to express my love for Sade's music, as well as the fact that I have an exam in about eight hours, yet blogging about mundane topics such as fashion *yawn* and music *yaaawn* seem to be my motive right about now. That, in itself, is a taboo so sweet, people. (continues song... 'you've got the biggest heart, sometimes I think you're just too good for me...')
On to the fashion now. I figure I should press on, si? non? Si!
Remember how I was excited that it was Fashion Week season? Well yeah. And I did not finish my ramblings about LFW! There were tonnes of shows I was in love with. Holly Fulton was one of them actually. Holly Fulton is not a designer I am actually conversant with; but then again, I do not claim to be a fashion know- it- all. Hey, I rank Betty Suarez high in the 'fashionista' league tables... In some places, such ethos warrants my being blown to smithereens like Dexter's experiments...
HOLLY FULTON, without any more talkations from yours truly...

OHMYGOODNESS. I am in LOVE! Yeah, I know I have used this very important word a lot of times these past days, but believe me when I say I am not using it lightly. You really have to. The collection is fun, playful, uber feminine (She changed the stereotype of the sexy stripper girl leather micro-mini tight, cheap looking leather skirt into something classy and regal, a la Catherine Baba. I luuuurrrrve Catherine Baba. She is... just... phwoar...). Plus, did I mention that I love the colour yellow?
...Yeah. Totally dig The Fulton henceforth. You can really tell when I like/love/am obsessed about someone, when they start being referred to as The *insert cool name/person/animal here*
Holly Fulton, feel free to mail me a dress. I will write NICE things about it. Preferably the yellow one above.
Many thanks,
Me.
Goodbyeeeee guys! I have an exam to revise for!
Toodledooo,

"I forgot to remember to forget"... Random loose ends in my brain...
Random things floating around my head at the minute. I'm a happy birdie also, BECAUSE I JUST CHECKED AND FOUND OUT I PASSED MY EXAMS!
Perhaps I should re-iterate. In larger words this time...
I PASSED MY EXAMS!
It's quite a surreal experience for me, considering I was konked out after both exams from crying so much. Serious storybook moment type tears. One of those days was my birthday. Sad times. However, I have passed! This further proves my belief and utter clarity in the existence of a deity who wants the best for me. That deity, ladies and froggies, is GOD! Thank himmmm on my behalf, if you would please? Thank you.
Well. Now this news has undoubtedly driven me over the edge of happiness/ecstasy/ immense elation, so I decided to blog about it. Because that is what you do, after you've called your parents to scream the exciting news down the phone and they're not picking up.
Ladies and orangutans, you simply blog about it! It makes you feel like someone cool. Trust me on this one. *winks*
Ooookay. So. Things in my head right now, other than London Fashio...
- OH WAIT!!! It's Milan Fashion Week now as well!!!! So. As we're rounding up LFW, I shall be embarking upon posts from MFW! How splendid and utterly marvellous!
I simply wanted to come on here to gush about these photographs I've been accumulating from various tumblrs in cyberspace. So let's get to it.
1. June Ambrose and her outrageous turbans... love. 2. Granny glasses. Bold earrings... Gold earrings. Gold everything... pink lipstick. :D 3. GirlCrush! She rocked that hair, can't nobody tell me nothin' different, yo. 4. YaYa - AfroCrush/GirlCrush2/hairspiration. Watch this space for my 'fro journey story soon. 5. Crop tops, skinnies, DMs, mahoosive hair and SUNSHINE. All that's missing is Boris Kodjoe, and this photograph would be complete. 6. DMs have my heart for now. Embarking on having a whole collection of Docs. Sit in anticipation and watch my collection grow.
I've said enough for now. I really thought this post was going to be me whacking a bunch of pictures on here, saying hello and saying goodbye.
Buuuutttt.... Yeah.
Aloha.
xoxo!

The 'Pod' shoutout...
My 'Pod' is probably the only technological appliance that gets me completely and gives me hope that my technology future is somewhat bright (Well... seeing as I can't even work a camera, perhaps not that bright). Thus a shout out is in order for this beautiful ideal device to know I love it and hope to get a few more years out of it. Amen.
So I have decided to let you in on a select few of the AMAZING music compiled on this device (hard to choose, but I did it in the end); not only by me, but cousins and other humans who let me steal their music and introduce me to the good stuff!
Okay. Let us get on with it, before my brain goes in another direction. Ummph. They are all youtube vids, so maybe it'd be tedious to look through 'em all lol.. But yeah. Here goes! I wish I could put more on. But then this post'd never end.
...And fo-inally, Zees one...
Jill Scott - The Way (On repeat at the mo'. She's one of my favourite musicians. Her music is easy to relate with, I mean here she's singing about 'scrambled eggs and grits'. Lol.)
Eric Bibb - In My Father's house (Spirituals are right up my alley... Yes!)
Gavin DeGraw - Chariot (I am seriously in love with this dude's style)
Lauryn Hill: Lost Ones (The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is easily my favourite album!!!)
Michael Jackson: PYT (The song is sooo fun! RIP Uncle Mike. We love you.)
Kierra Sheard: Let Go
Zie'l: Is My Living In Vain (Cover, originally sung by the Clark Sisters. Their harmonies are unfair!)
Jonas Brothers: Shelf (My darling loverboys...lol. But jokes aside, they're actually really good! WELL, I like 'em).
Kirk Franklin Feat. Stevie Wonder: Why (I love everything about this song. The lyrics, the collaboration, the harmonica, everything).

Okiesss! I'm off to... do nothing actually. Ohhh. No, I lie, i'm off to catch up with Betty Suarez's interesting life! I want her and Daniel Meade to fall in love, really. And have little Modette- Hispanic kids. It would make my day. Really.

white power... black power?
(I feel I should apologise for the lame title... So, sorry.)
It actually does correlate to the post itself this time, however. So perhaps my apology is unnecessary...
Well... Before I forget the purpose of this cheese-fest of a title, I shall get into it. Pleasantries!
Awhile back (well, just at the beginning of summer really. How is it that we are almost in autumn AND it is already almost time to go back to university?), I did something I rarely ever do since joining the social networking site that is facebook and started receiving messages from international psycho-freaks about their intentions to make me their (fourth) wife.
I checked my facebook inbox. And this is monumental for me, as I don't do too well with cyber - freaks and their possible polygamous tendencies, and so I almost never check it Except of course, on this particular day.
And I got this controversy of a message on interracial relationships.
Dear Jamie: I'm sorry but I would like to challenge some of your Black male readers
I am a White female who is engaged to a Black male-good-looking, Educated and loving. I just don't understand a lot of Black females attitudes about our relationship.
My man decided he wanted me because the pickings amongst Black women were slim to none. As he said they were too fat, too loud, too mean, too argumentative, too needy, too materialistic or carrying too much excess baggage.
Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly approached by Black men, willing to wine and dine me and give me the world. If Black women are so up in arms about us being with their men, why don't they look at themselves and make some changes.
I am tired of the dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we're out in public.. I would like to hear from some Black men about why we are so appealing and coveted by them.
Bryant Gumbel left his wife of 26 years for one of us. Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, the model Tyson Beckford, Montell Williams, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Sydney Poitier, Kofi Anan, Cuba Gooding Jr., Don Cornelius, Berry Gordy, Billy Blanks, Larry Fishburne, Wesley Snipes...
I could go on and on. But, right now, I'm a little angry and that is why I wrote this so hurriedly. Don't be mad with us White women because so many of your men want us. Get your acts together and learn from us and we may lead you to treat your men better. If I'm wrong, Black men, let me know.
Disgusted White Girl, Somewhere in VA
RESPONSE
Dear Jamie: I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White Girl.
Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old black man. I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have a good job at a major corporation and have recently purchased a house. So, I consider myself to be among the ranks of successful black men.
I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I just want to set the record straight of why black men date white women. Back in the day, one of the biggest reasons why black men dated white women was because they were considered easy.
The black girls in my neighborhood were raised in the church. They were very strict about when they lost their virginity and who they lost it to. Because of our impatience to wait, brothers would look for someone who would give it up easy without too much hassle. So, they turned to the white girls. Nowadays, in my opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because they are docile and easy to control. A lot of black men, because of insecurities, fears, and overall weaknesses, have be come intimidated by the strength of our black women. We are afraid that our woman will be more successful than us, make more money than us, drive nicer cars and own bigger houses. Because of this fear, many black men look for a more docile woman. Someone we can control. I have talked to numerous black men and they continuously comment on how easy it is to control and walk over their white women. I just want to set the record straight. I want A Disgusted White Girl to know that not all successful black men date white women.
Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan, Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock all married strong black women And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and out of the spotlight, who openly or secretly desire black women over white women. Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie and Robin Thicke, to name a few..
I just don't want a disgusted white girl to be misinformed Stop thinking that because you are white that you are some type of goddess.
Remember, when black Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and armies of men in Egypt, you were over in the caves of Europe eating raw meat and beating each other over the head with clubs. Read your history!
It was the black woman that taught you how to cook and season your food. It was the black woman that taught you how to raise your children. It was black women who were breast feeding and raising your babies during slavery.
It is the black woman that had to endure watching their fathers, husbands, and children beaten, killed, and thrown in jail. Black women were born with two strikes against them; being black and being a woman. And, through all this, Still They Rise!
It is because of the black women's strength, elegance, power, love and beauty that I could never date anyone except my black Queen. It is not just the outer beauty that captivates and draws me to them. It is not the fact that they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and shades that I love them.
Their inner beauty is what I find most appealing about black women. Their strong spirit, loving and nurturing souls, their integrity, their ability to overcome great obstacles, their willingness to stand for what they believe in, and their determination to succeed and reach their highest potential while enduring great pain and suffering is why I have fallen in love with black women. I honestly believe that your anger is geared more toward jealousy and envy more so than snotty looks. If this were not so, then why do you continuously go to tanning salons to darken your skin? If you are so proud to be white, then why don't you just be happy with your pale skin? Why do you continue to inject your lips, hips, and breasts with unnatural and dangerous substances so you can look fuller and more voluptuous?
I think that your anger is really a result of you wanting to have what the black woman has.
BOTTOM LINE: If I were looking for a docile woman, someone I can walk over and control, I would give you a call. But, unfortunately, I am looking for a Virtuous Woman. Someone that can be a good wife and mother to my children. Someone who can be my best friend and understands my struggles. I am looking for a soul mate. I am looking for a sister and; unfortunately, you do not and CANNOT fit the bill.
No offense taken, none given. Signed, Black Royalty
This is none other than shambolic. Yes, shambolic. We profess that as humans, we are superior to animals given our heightened intellect and our abilities to THINK rationally, and yet, we get into squabbles such as this? In the twentieth century?
What is most unfortunate about these letters is that, despite relationships being the focus of the argument, there is no mention of LOVE.
You know, the supposed reason why relationships exist? Yes, I say supposed, because due to our primitive way of thinking, we have conjured up this notion that love is confined to the colour of our skin or the pre-imposed stereotypes, and that people are different, MERELY because one's skin is darker or more freckled than the other?
Shambolic.
This is not to say I think I live in a world where unicorns exist and pigs fly and I have a pet tyrannosaurus, and therefore think that the world is beautiful and racism does not exist, because it does. In all kinds of ways; black on white, white on black. It does. Unfortunate as it may be. But racism being interjected into LOVE is terrifying, and wrong on so many different levels.
So please, cyber world, when an opportunity comes to slate interracial relationships on the BIASED basis that we are culturally different, refer back to the existential purpose of REAL relationships in the first place; an arena for love to be expressed. (note the 'real' there. I'm am leaving room for those who have other... ahem... reasons for being in relationships).
You can tell this whole shenanigan irks my system. Why, you ask? Because! I am a firm believer in the institutional mystery of LOVE! Yes. Call me mushy or whatever, but trying to control love based on flimsy excuses such as skin colour is STUPIDITY. More unfortunate is that people who are deemed 'intelligent' usually fall short of this vital intellectual clarity.
Added to that is the fact that I am head over heels in love with Chad Michael Murray (Well... Lucas Scott, really) and Ian Somerhalder. At least for now... Ooohhh... And Boris Kodjoe... And Taye Diggs... Um... I'll leave you now...
"There is only one race. And that is the HUMAN race"
*sorry for the longevity of this post, by the way... Ummph*
Well. I have vented, my diatribe is over. It seems I have to go look for something to eat. Like nutella on toast. Yum.
Bye Bye!

I am in love.
No... Am I?
Is this what IT feels like?
Is THIS what 'dreams are made of'?
Is it when I feel out of sorts with
R.E.A.L.I.T.Y
When he's in close vicinity,
Or when
He looks DEEP
into my eyes
and sees me: Inside me.
UGLY me. Inside?
That stare. The compelling way
He holds my eyes with his
And all hell seems to freeze.
Is it,
the encouragement from his laughter,
or,
the readiness of his accepting spirit?
The belief in the surreal... NO
The SUPERNATURAL existence of this abstract feeling?
Wait. This... It can't be love!
Why would it!
But... The unwavering focus of his thoughts
on mine.
The unforgettable memory - His face,
etched skilfully on my heart;.
The willingness to give more, more than
More than i'm given to.
The expectant caress of plural minds ,
converging. Singular.
No. It can't be.
I have fallen deep it seems,
Deep; into the abyss of love.
Okay, g'night for reals now...

...for the lace of love...
Ohmigiddyness. Hiiiiiiiii!
So, i'm back. Fortunate for me, unfortunate for others who thought i'd shut up about my anythings for awhile. Thing is, there's actually nothing I badly want to blog about (is there ever), except I remembered the numerous scenes in SATC of Carrie sitting so comfortably with her laptop balanced effortlessly on her lap (lol. Laptop; lap *does geeky giggle*) and typing away about her *findings*on the JOB (if you can call wearing expensive clothes and having an enormous closet of shoes whilst writing about naughty stuff a job), whilst looking so smugly chic. And I suddenly feel the urge to write on this thing.
Except, I sorta look the total opposite; I'm sitting in the dark, albeit comfortably balancing my laptop on my lap (haaaa), and in spongebob PJs meant for a 13 year old boy-kid, with my hair in a slumber hat. Don't even attempt to judge me. At least i've managed to satisfy my err... wandering imagination.
Anyhowwws, i've missed you, dear blog! it's been far too long! Too many deadlines, patients NOT to kill, interviews about professionalism and blah di dum, have taken me far away into the land of maturity and responsibility for my own education that I had to neglect you for so long dear blog! But alas, the work is finished (for now). It's easter time (for now), and I'm planning on doing nothing other than reading le Bible... and trying to inhabit somewhat of a life. (Rant.Rant. RANNNT...)
Okay. Well. The title doesn't mean anything per se, except i'm just liking all things lace at the minute! lacy skirts, lacy dresses (of which i'm a proud owner.... who knows, maybe i'll even do an outfit post of it! *insert emoticon of horror*), belts, hairbands. You name it. Its that time for lace methinks!!!!
Jourdan, Jessica and Bette... Miuiccia Prada Fall 2008... I know, I know, it was two years ago... but i'm only just getting the hang of lace as outerwear you know? more to be added to le wardrobe. with LINING underneath however, thank you!

...Oh my wow. it's 6 o'clock. Errm... Good morning, happy (well not happy... Jesus died) easter. Bye for now. That will be all; finito.
Toodles and shish kebabs,
Her Ladyship.
