Something other than jewellery this time// Current Brain thoughts...

Mawnin'. Lifted a couple of things off the tumblr this fine day to show you wonderful people where my mind is right now.
1. Being inspired is the first step. But staying inspired is the hardest part of being a creative. Looking forward to finding out what exactly I want to do with my life (and the degree I am about to finish which I have no passion for whatsoever.. *welp*)
2. Travel. Travel. Travel. And travel some more. I envisage myself in a little European house such as that above. I'm a bit obsessed with quaintness, if you haven't figured that out already.
3. Not only do I wanna BE them, I just want to watch more 50s movies. And fashion myself as one of these radiant women. Oh, the life.
4. Just YES. More art, more life. YES.
5. Because I am the world's biggest, most obese time waster. 2013 is a year of change, my fellow citizens of Gotham.
6. *giggles* just for the darned cuteness of it all.
7. And, in conclusion, LIVE happy. THINK happy. BE HAPPY. #lifemantra2013

Ahhh... And I managed to post something other than jewellery! Yesss! Lol...

The Procraspiration...

Alas, 'tis the weekend. I am typing away in my friend's room, because, in an act to try and get something substantial done during our weekend of birthday fun, I have brought my 'work' with me so I can laze about watching episodes of The Good Wife do some catching up. But no, I'm rounding pictures that I like up to show you lovely people of blogsville. Times like these, school work loses all appeal, and... yeah...

1.) Living a dream is the only way to live. Really. 2) School kids prancing about the neighbourhood. I just love it. Plus I'm obsessing over black and white photographs these days... 3) possibly the best list ever made. nom nom. 4) I love how she looks like a modern day Zelda Fitzgerald. I want to become a flapper so bad, it hurts my intestines. 5) Need I explain? 6) Why yes, that is indeed me looking like... I don't know. You can decide.

Solo-dicted...

The title says it all. I am a self diagnosed, self confessed Solange Knowles fan. Been begging her on Twitter to gift me with her lovely Prada sunglasses that I so very dearly covet.  Alas, no retweets or replies. For this, my heart is saddened. OH WELLZT.

Still love her though...

Remember this? She wrote it!!!!! The woman is a genius!

Happy Friday!

In appreciation of all the kinks, curls, waves, coils. naps, 4c, 2z, 13v textured 'fros out there in the world. Long, short, medium, haloed, WHATEVER. I love you all!

And am I the only one jizzing over the fact that Solo's blog is back up? YOUCH!

In My Solitude...

"Loneliness is black coffee and late night television; Solitude is herb tea and soft music. Solitude, quality solitude, is an assertion of self - worth, because only in the stillness can we hear the truth of our own unique voices."

Patrick Cleage

Monday's almost over, we thank God. Saw this during my habitual meanderings through tumblr. And by golly am I in love with this quote.

Inspiration for my life now, henceforth. I'm going to revel in my solitude and bask in the beauty of my lonesome. Yeeee-harrrr!

And, because this song is so apt, I bring to you, the Queen Ella herself. Enjoy!

It's kind of a sad song... But, you get the picture...

You are giving me EVERYTHING right about now...

I know, I know... My title sounds like something Miss Jay from America's Next Top Model would say right? RIGHT. She/he/it made the show, from his/her facial expressions, to his/her skinny legs walking down the runway. S/he was perfect. Speaking of, WHATEVER has happened to the modelling dynasty that Tyra was creating via the show? I was an avid ANTM watcher for years. Until... Well... It just got less interesting and more politically correct, and the models became skinnier than thermometers. Bleurgh.

her flares are speaking to me and begging me to take them home. Goodness!

I think this is the second time Rihanna is making an appearance on this here blog. Whilst I do not have any sort of like/love/feeling for her music, I must say, I cannot begrudge the girl some appreciation/ a shout out for her choice of clothing (sometimes). Regardless of whether or not she has a stylist, her looks still make me green with envy all the darned time. Especially right now, as I am obsessing over creepers and she is traipsing about the universe constantly clad in them? CONSPIRACY!

doesn't she just look so dreamy? Like, the soft pastels and the floral docs just finish me. Such simplicity!

The other two laaavly ladies are courtesy of Vanessa Jackman's streetstyle blog. Speaking of streetstyle, am I the only one who is gobsmacked at Scott Shuman's arrogance in his recent interview? Words cannot explain how unfortunately disappointed I was upon reading it. My love for The Sartorialist went 'poof'. That quickly. Bleurgh.
More so, I find it quite strange that I am so drawn to these minimalistic, simple looks, given that my 'style' is usually a smorgasbord of prints and a jumble of... everything. Perhaps because we are gravitating towards the cooler months? Who knows... The denim on denim look is PURE POETRY. Gawwsh.

And once again, more creeper love. Rihanna, be my friend. We can exchange my cheap knock offs for your original TUK creeps. Sincerely,
She.

Hair Lust...

Just look at all that hair! I've just stumbled upon the genius that is the hair section of Refinery 29, and all I can say is WOW!
She reminds me of Julie Andrews in a way... Or is it just me?

Now I am looking for ways to manoeuvre my hair into this style. Ex..ceeptt.... Mine is quite er.. coily. But I will try nonetheless!

Alice+Olivia Resort 2012// Oh rainbows I love thee...

I uhh... Don't know if you've noticed, but I'm kind of addicted to colours. Even waaay before the colour blocking trend came in yo. I am such a visionary. Okay, that was a joke (The visionary part, before people think I'm conceited... *gulps*)

Well, there's nothing like the Alice + Olivia Resort Collection to get me out of my fash-drought ehh? I blame it on the combination of 60's glamour with 80's colour obsession. Gaaaah. I want that monochrome maxi and the monochrome palazzo pants. Anyone know anyone who knows somebody, who knows the designers? If you do, get at me please. Thanking you in advance. *gives the most believable winning/innocent/puppy dog smile*

Although, this post is getting here rather late. Seeing as we are already waving goodbye to the summer that never really existed here in Britain. On to winter fashion eh? Life is hard, I tell you. Too hard.

Current Een-spee-ray-shunz.....

Currently inspired by... Well. Life really. Lifestyles, people, individuality, rainbows, sunshine, Old ladies' wardrobes, granny sandals, AFROs (always), music (you knowwww wha'a mean?), wise words, silly faces, happiness... Just everything.Oh, and BLACK LIPSTICK. Yowzzers. I've realised that the world has a lot to offer if you just open your eyes to the various possibilities. 'Tis truly a wonderful experience.

Shmoodle-ooo!

Great Minds// People you should know...

Just listen. I can guarantee you that you will love the simplicity of the beat, the neo- soul vibe very reminiscent of early hip hoppers. Think A Tribe Called Quest, but with British accents. Go Londoners!!!! I love the nostalgic feel of the video, the almost poetic rhymes, and just... Well... Everything in general... Been on repeat for awhile now...

Ahhh, I am excited for more from these boys. Love it!

"We're still livin' "

Toodles!

When I grow up I want to kick some fashion and expressionist azzzz... Like Iris Apfel does...

Iris Apfel is my superhero! I love and admire people who are not afraid of expressing themselves in every way possible. I guess that is the main reason behind my fascination with fashion - the way in which you can create, express, and explore different aspects of life is amazing.

And is her apartment not divine?!!! There is nothing cohesive, no organisation, no order in the decor of the home. It's like a running train of thought, quite chaotic. Which instantly means I am in love with it and want to live there.

CANNOT wait to have my own apartment and go crazy decorating. Ohhh yeahh...

*Pictures from Architectural Digest*

The friendies...

InCASE you were wondering...

... none of these photos are mine, s'il vous plait. Unless you happen to see pictures of yours truly or whatever (which I beg you to ask for permission before you acquire), I own no claims whatsoever to the images.

Many thanks,
She.
