Untitled// Shop biznizz...

Greetings from the land of Zod! (I am pretty obsessed with this dude this week, for reasons unbeknown to me. Apologies.)
Hope you're all okay, enjoying the transition from winter to spring? Well, I certainly am. Being cold and numb from the inside out is not my idea of a wonderful time. So glad I can get my legs out soon (definitely after I purchase some hair removal cream... Amen?)

Just shamelessly plugging the shop this dreary Friday afternoon. Haven't been able to make any new pieces to update the shop with, final year is a killer. Serious killer guys. *wipes sweat off forehead*

Okay, going to continue with the life of an almost pharmacist. Hope you have a lovely weekend, and Happy International Women's Day!

Shop induced hiatus... Oh, and university of course! *scratches head*

Oh haaii. I feel bad for neglecting this blog and making silly excuses like having uni work to tackle (like, since when did that get in the way of jibber jabbering?) to explain my shortcomings. Plus I'm tired of seeing the word 'apologise' and 'hiatus' on this blog.

Aanyhoos, hope everyone is doing okay? Yes? No? Have the wonders of the world ceased to amuse you yet? Because they haven't me. I mean, Kim Kardashian is on her way to Nigeria, for reasons unbeknownst to me (and possibly herself), yet again in reference to Nigeria, they won a championship (African Cup of Nations) for the first time since Zod took over the-town-where-Superman-lived-in-on-earth, among other things!

The world is still amazing, and amusing me in many respects. Thank God for that.

In more adult news however, the shop is taking shape, thank God! I'm totally excited that I am able to express myself in such a creative manner, and i'm constantly trolling design and photography websites to see how I can improve the aesthetics of my products.

New items (pictured above) are now up on the shop for grabs, woohoo! Customers get a 10% off code for every customer they recommend to shop on cre8ed, so tell a friend to tell a friend!

Be sure to visit the shop for more bits and bobs of vintage cuteness!

Here's to hoping for more posts and less infrequencies!
Traa for now!

Life and... other drugs...

Well. I have outdone myself this time. Been gone for so long.

Miss me?

Since i'm not entirely sure if actual humans and not UFO inhabitants peruse this blog, I am not expecting an answer to the question above. But it's whatever! I still luu' you Obama blogsville! Hope you've been keeping well?

Okay. In my hiatus, I have actually been busy. With life, as aforementioned, no doubt, but also with exciting new projects!

Drumroll please?!?!

I started a JEWELLERY BUSINESS!!!!

Yes. Indeedy I did. I took the plunge, picked up my pliers, and off I went making... things! So, without further ado (and wordsmithing), I present to you, my latest baby on Etsy....

Totally excited/exhilarated/jumpy/scared/*insert other adjectives-adverbs-ad-somethings in here* about this new venture. The shop finally opened two weeks ago, despite my frustrations with technology and my own shortcomings, but it's alive now! Stocked with button earrings and other wacky ear bits!

So yeah. This, combined with university (finals), life, winter, CHRISTMAS, and... life, are what have prevented me from being on this here site. Apologies!

Do have a look in the shop for more bits!
Or, additionally, support us on Facebook
Follow us on Twitter too!

Having a giveaway sometime soon, also, you know, because it's the most wonderful time of the year and all.

Happy Saturdayyyyyy!!!

The Procraspiration...

Alas, 'tis the weekend. I am typing away in my friend's room, because, in an act to try and get something substantial done during our weekend of birthday fun, I have brought my 'work' with me so I can laze about watching episodes of The Good Wife do some catching up. But no, I'm rounding pictures that I like up to show you lovely people of blogsville. Times like these, school work loses all appeal, and... yeah...

1.) Living a dream is the only way to live. Really. 2) School kids prancing about the neighbourhood. I just love it. Plus I'm obsessing over black and white photographs these days... 3) possibly the best list ever made. nom nom. 4) I love how she looks like a modern day Zelda Fitzgerald. I want to become a flapper so bad, it hurts my intestines. 5) Need I explain? 6) Why yes, that is indeed me looking like... I don't know. You can decide.

Constantly Living in Retrospect// Christmas Wishlist...

Hi guys.

So.

IT'S LIKE, Six days till  CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

Please forgive me for these outbursts. I honestly cannot control myself where Christmas is concerned. I am a self confessed, happy-about-it, walking-about-wishing-people-merry-christmas-from-October Christmas junkie. Don't really know why or how I became this obsessed with the month of December, but I have always been excited about it. Despite my very loving mother and father's attempts at crushing my dreams of Santa's... errr... existence at a very young age, I was adamant that Santa was in fact, real. No ma'am, I did not buy the story of Santa not being real. The power of my imagination has been this way from a wee age, you see.

...Anyhoo, since 'tis the season to be jolly and giving and smiling at random grumpy strangers at ASDA, I figure I may as well let cyberspace know what I would like my sock to be filled with this beautiful month of December...

1. A Vintage Pentax Camera: Because, I have never owned a swanky camera before, and I remember my dad having one when I was a kid (at least I think it was a Pentax), and because they just exude super coolness. And because it's vintage. Go figure.

2. A Barbie (or otherwise) Polaroid camera: As mentioned earlier, I just really want a camera this year. I have ALWAAAAAYS wanted a polaroid. Like, always. Came across this beauty on ebay and I immediately thought: SANTAAAA!!! *giggles*

3. A Dora the Explorer watch: Simply because... well... Every cool person owns a Dora watch, and, I mean, the girl is an explorer. Currently going through a wanderlust season - I want to explore the world. Starting with Britain. So having this courageous little lady on my wrist is a good start, si? non?

4. Dr Martens floral (men's) brogues: Because my allegiance to the Doc has not waned one little bit. Just changed its course. Yep.

5. A Denman brush: Since all the naturalistas rant and rave about it, I may as well as well try it out on my mane. Although I'm quite scared of all my curls ending up on the brush... I'm afraid the science of its effectiveness is lost on me... But we'll see what happens!

6. Jazz compilation cd: Does one ever need to explain their want/need of a jazz disc set? Me no think so.

7. A TRUCKLOAD OF BLOOMIN' CREEPERS IN EVERY SHAPE, SIZE, COLOUR OR FORM: Cuz I aint mad atcha honey thang. If that made sense to you, then find me and befriend me. Merci.

Okay. I shall stop myself here, as I am suddenly aware that I want a lot of things. Now, do bear in mind that  I am merely thinking out loud, and all these things will only present themselves if I a) marry Obama the second, or b) one of those rich Arab tycoons who own like five football clubs, or c) if I am stupid enough to acquire a credit card and then go crazy with all that virtual cash...

... Which is NEVER going to happen. But somehow, because Jesus loves me like, LOADS, I will get some of these things on my list. I am almost sure of it. Maybe not for Christmas, buuut... mehh. Soon. Just watch me!

Yeah. Materialistic rant over.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
xoxo

The Movie: My Week With Marilyn...

I await this... With bated breath. Let's hope I am not disappointed. Don't think I will be though!

And, is it me, or does Michelle Williams have a penchant for playing the role of the disturbed, enigmatic woman in movies?

Ohhh... I am waitinnnnng!

Solo-dicted...

The title says it all. I am a self diagnosed, self confessed Solange Knowles fan. Been begging her on Twitter to gift me with her lovely Prada sunglasses that I so very dearly covet.  Alas, no retweets or replies. For this, my heart is saddened. OH WELLZT.

Still love her though...

Remember this? She wrote it!!!!! The woman is a genius!

Happy Friday!

Dum Dim Dahhh Dimmmm... (Wedding Procession tune)...

I know. My onomatopoeic title was very ambiguous until I wrote the bit about weddings, yes? No? Okay...

Yeah. Weddings.  This is [supposedly] the day every girl pines for and encapsulates using plastic perfect Barbie and Ken. The tulle. The endless yards of skirt. The hair. The shoes. Okay my Barbie never had shoes, neither did she have a real wedding dress, but my imagination made up for the rest of the imagery I just conjured...

Diane Kruger as the picture of perfection in Giambattista Valli

Lest I digress again and begin talking about my childhood involvements with the world of Barbie, Shelly, black barbie whose name eludes me now, and Ken, back to the topic of weddings. So, yeah. Turns out, as I've adopted Peter Pan's lifestyle grown up over  the years, I have come to the realisation that my fascination with weddings and its condiments (LOL) have pretty much become a non-existent venture. Which worries me. I once tweeted about being more concerned with the size of the kitchen in my matrimonial home than the actual events of my wedding day.

Yeah. I know. Weird? Not at all. I happen to have this connection with kitchens and their fancy appliances. Goodness. You should be in my head when I am conjuring up pictures of  'The Perfect Kitchen'. Tis awesome, I tell you.

Alannah Weston, Selfridges extraordinaire in Christopher Bailey for her wedding. AAAAAAAAAAH!
So, Ladies and gentlemen probably stumbling upon this. The picture above is what has stirred my juices, shall we say, for wedding dresses once again. Just this moment. I picked up May's Vogue, because, you know, as a pharmacist who has TONNES of free time WORK to complete, looking at past editorials just seems a more appropriate way to pass time. Yaahh hunnh. So yeah, I'm looking through the pages, envisioning myself as Alexandra Shulman, because, I mean, so awesome is she - Only to stumble upon Alannah Weston's wedding dress.

The Lady of Shallot, Alfred Lord Tennyson, inspiration for Alannah's gown...

As someone who is very unhealthily drawn to the vintage aesthetic, suffice it to say that I was transfixed. I know, I know, the dress is not extravagant. Nor has it got yards of skirt, or... what I like to call unnecessary faffery (aka tulle. WHY IS THAT NECESSARY? IT ITCHES!). Hence why I am in love with it! Lace is the way forward yo. And can we also say ayy okayy for her headpiece?

Pre- Raphaelite apparel. Something about the longness and the flowiness (I know, not a word) of their clothes gives me this peace? or sense of serenity? Ohh I don't know...

Yeahhh...

And, speaking of longness and flowiness, how could I forget Diane as Helen of Troy? THE WOMAN WAS A BADASS! Well, her clothes made her more badass than she already is. Yep. The wispy hair, I am going to re-create that on my head for my wedding. Granted, I have an afro, but I will make it work. Just watch me!
If I have a veil, it will look like this. Please God, let it look like this...

Amen.
Now I shall exeunt, so you don't think of me as a mad woman...

It's Fridayyyyy!

Why not listen to a bit o' Becky Black crooning about her pubescent adventures during the weekend?

Aloha!

Pile it all on ya, why... dontcha?...

Orange shoooooezzz! - some random shop in uni. Massive reduction from about 30quids to 6. I was going to treat myself to some Nando's with that money, but then...Lol.
Shirt- Aunty's clothes from the 90s that she don't wear no' mo' :)
Waistcoat- My friend stole it from her 11 year old brother, and I nicely 'borrowed' it,
Superskinnies- Gap

P.S: I've decided to embark upon a new venture, to you know, boost my street cred.
Notice the title? Guys, I do believe I have been hiding a talent of mine which can no longer be supressed.

I have decided I want to become a rapper. Don't you think I'd be good at it? Rhyming the 'ya' with 'dontcha' is so genius, like toh-tuh-lee genius, I think I should take myself more serious, and pursue this newly apparent dream/talent of mine...

...'Dontcha' think?

Now to find a befitting, cool name to go with my rapper status. More information to come soon!

Oh yeah. Every once in a while, when my narcissism overshadows my shyness, I am able to take pictures of myself and post it on here....

These outfit post things still give me the heebie jeebies. You know? I'd much rather write than have my face on here. 'Cos I'm chicken like that...

...On to the clothes now. Gosh I talk an awful lot. Well, as you can see, I decided to wear the world and its mama's jewellery on my person to church yesterday. Sometimes, dressing in a kitschy manner is all you need to lift your sunken spirits!

There's a monkey somewhere in between all that rubble on my neck, which I am in love with right now, from Claire's Accesories. For a paaand. Score!

Okay. Erm. I'll be back. Waaay too much talkations going on here.
Shmoodleloooo!

The Quirkspiration// Shop Feature: Lottie's Atik

macaroon necklaces! Yummy!

I clearly have problems with doing things chronologically and you know, just generally being normal. Remember my post about the shop with the ornate Grecian mirror where I promised to be back with more information on my friend's shop?

Urm... Yeah. That was sooo 2008, and I am indeedy, very 2000-and late with the actual feature. Please forgive me; that is, if you were actually interested in hearing about the topic in question.

Sidebar: Did you get the whole 2008/2000and late thing? I am trying sooo badly to show you guys that I am cool... *smiles*

Okay, let's geddddiiiit started! The elusive shop in question is my friend Charlie's, which therefore means my opinions concerning the shop are wholly biased. Because, wellllll... she is my homedawg after all right? It still seems weird that she's delved into the corporate world already whilst I'm still stuck in lectures learning about fish brains. *deadpan expression*

SHE IS ON HER WAY TO BECOMING A MILLIONAIRE!!!! Did I miss something? Did I?

I shall stop whining and continue with the shop story. The shop is called Lottie's Atik, from her name, and the attic bit is a true representation of the shop itself, given its layout. Ohhh the layout is beautiful. So like Charlie; vibrant and bursting with character at every corner, chaotic but orderly. From the Art Nouveau wallpaper, to the birdcage (THE BIRDCAGE! I want a birdcageee!! ), to the quirky jewellery...

...Annnnddd, I think if I were to give an in-depth description of the shop, this post would never end. So I shall move along.

The store is located along the sides of this steep hill in my home town of Lincolnshire, and the quaint setting is truly befitting for the store's location.

More information on Lottie's Atik/ Charlie the Superwoman:
  • The store opened up at the end of summer last year, and I remember my horror/excitement upon hearing news of her opening up a shop and being a business woman. Now, my horror has vanished completely, and excitement has taken over.

  • Charlie is a math whizz and generally one of the craziest people I have ever met (seeing as she is one of the major reasons why I was almost never present in maths lessons in sixth form, given she would choose THOSE lessons to suggest a trip to Starbucks)

  • Lottie's Atik has like, the best necklaces EVER to grace the planet. I am always privy to seeing the stock when she's going through them, 'cos Charlie gets excited like that and sends a boatload of pictures to me. (Not that I complain though)

... I told you she was mad. There she is, in all her grandeur. Charlie of Lottie's Atik people!

To find out more about Lottie's Attik, find her on their facebook page here, and be wowed by the extravagant goodness of the shop!

Toooooodle- oo!

The friendies...

InCASE you were wondering...

... none of these photos are mine, s'il vous plait. Unless you happen to see pictures of yours truly or whatever (which I beg you to ask for permission before you acquire), I own no claims whatsoever to the images.

Many thanks,
She.
