Constantly Living in Retrospect// Christmas Wishlist...

Hi guys.

So.

IT'S LIKE, Six days till  CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

Please forgive me for these outbursts. I honestly cannot control myself where Christmas is concerned. I am a self confessed, happy-about-it, walking-about-wishing-people-merry-christmas-from-October Christmas junkie. Don't really know why or how I became this obsessed with the month of December, but I have always been excited about it. Despite my very loving mother and father's attempts at crushing my dreams of Santa's... errr... existence at a very young age, I was adamant that Santa was in fact, real. No ma'am, I did not buy the story of Santa not being real. The power of my imagination has been this way from a wee age, you see.

...Anyhoo, since 'tis the season to be jolly and giving and smiling at random grumpy strangers at ASDA, I figure I may as well let cyberspace know what I would like my sock to be filled with this beautiful month of December...

1. A Vintage Pentax Camera: Because, I have never owned a swanky camera before, and I remember my dad having one when I was a kid (at least I think it was a Pentax), and because they just exude super coolness. And because it's vintage. Go figure.

2. A Barbie (or otherwise) Polaroid camera: As mentioned earlier, I just really want a camera this year. I have ALWAAAAAYS wanted a polaroid. Like, always. Came across this beauty on ebay and I immediately thought: SANTAAAA!!! *giggles*

3. A Dora the Explorer watch: Simply because... well... Every cool person owns a Dora watch, and, I mean, the girl is an explorer. Currently going through a wanderlust season - I want to explore the world. Starting with Britain. So having this courageous little lady on my wrist is a good start, si? non?

4. Dr Martens floral (men's) brogues: Because my allegiance to the Doc has not waned one little bit. Just changed its course. Yep.

5. A Denman brush: Since all the naturalistas rant and rave about it, I may as well as well try it out on my mane. Although I'm quite scared of all my curls ending up on the brush... I'm afraid the science of its effectiveness is lost on me... But we'll see what happens!

6. Jazz compilation cd: Does one ever need to explain their want/need of a jazz disc set? Me no think so.

7. A TRUCKLOAD OF BLOOMIN' CREEPERS IN EVERY SHAPE, SIZE, COLOUR OR FORM: Cuz I aint mad atcha honey thang. If that made sense to you, then find me and befriend me. Merci.

Okay. I shall stop myself here, as I am suddenly aware that I want a lot of things. Now, do bear in mind that  I am merely thinking out loud, and all these things will only present themselves if I a) marry Obama the second, or b) one of those rich Arab tycoons who own like five football clubs, or c) if I am stupid enough to acquire a credit card and then go crazy with all that virtual cash...

... Which is NEVER going to happen. But somehow, because Jesus loves me like, LOADS, I will get some of these things on my list. I am almost sure of it. Maybe not for Christmas, buuut... mehh. Soon. Just watch me!

Yeah. Materialistic rant over.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Santa Claus is coming to town. Like, in FOUR MONTHS!

*shrieks*

I cannot believe summer is almost over, and that Santa and the elves will already be running around frantically in the North Pole getting presents ready, whilst Helga sits contentedly keeping house and home and is just generally revelling in her awesomeness. Okay...

I've done something I never thought I would do;  made a video. Oh dear God. I was meant to sing and get away quickly enough, but alas, it is me in question, is it not?

Yeaaah. I go a bit wrong in some places which you will see, and most definitely laugh at my blunders, but just do not think me weird and write me off will you?

Thanks...

P.S Blogger's video quality is shambolic. Once I can figure out how to get a Youtube channel up and running properly, I shall change to that...

Feel Like a Lady, and you my Lady Boy...

Urm... The pictures are rather self explanatory, no?

Okay... Perhaps they might not be. I just wanted to let you seeee my latest ring-session, as I am ringsessed.  And they are all courtesy of Lottie's Attik!!!! Such unique rings ehh? And S for Seyi... Cool, hunnhh? *bats eyelashes*

Annnnd, during my aimless wandering in the town centre, I stumbled upon this gem of a book!!! I love me a good poem. Well... all things in the geeky spectrum. It's got 365 poems in it for everyday. I don't mind!

Well, that seems to be all for now, except I am beginning to get excited for Christmas already. I am a Christmas FIEND. So do not be alarmed that my festive spirit is already dusting off its debris and getting ready to see the light of day...

Urm, okay, I shall be on my way.

Toodles!

V..i..i...intageeeeee Baby....♥

I have this unrequited, unfathomable love for old things. Yes, I am with the posse of the rest of the world who have been swept away by the general 'dopeness' of the yesteryears. I am very aware that wearing vintage has automatically become a prerequisite for every fashion blogger, but that is a debate for  another post. And another time when I can actually be bothered to go off on one of those rants about trends, fashion and style.  Today however, is merely for the appreciation of my love for vintage, and the opportunity I had to be immersed in yesterday's world for some hours during Christmas last year.

I know, I know. This event happened almost four months ago, and it has only just found its way onto this thing. I guess you could blame me. Or something.

The event took place on the 9th December, at Alfies Antique Market in Marylebone. The shmeautiful esteemed - looking lady in the first picture is none other than my homedawg Maria, who knew nothing about vintage but was excited at the prospects of an adventure. Judging from the number of pictures she took that night, it would be safe to say that she became a vintage convert...

'why, goodness gracious! I am so very delighted to see you Mr Fairfeather. Such a lovely day today, wouldn't you say?'. This is totally what my expression is saying right? That is, if expressions could.. er.. speak.

We started off the evening freezing our buttocks off whilst waiting for the bus to London. Oh-em-gee, I still remember how cold it was that day. I was planning on wearing dainty shoes, but alas, the horrid weather condition could only permit my sturdy Dr Martens. No complaints however!

*Ye...ah.. The whole hugging a library of books thing. I.. erm... promise you I am actually very cool in person. I just like books okay?*

Okay. So we're at the bus stop, freezing and irked at prospects of having to wait for the bus for FORTY-FIVE MINUTES, Maria's already mumbling her usual mumbo jumbo threats of suing the bus driver for wasting our time and how she is 'going to give him a piece of her mind', when the nicest bus driver drives the bus to the stop and apologises for being late. And then lets us on the bus FREE OF CHARGE. I was ecstatic. Hey... free bus rides are always amazing. I mean, who doesn't want to feel like they're cheating the government sometimes?

So. We got to Marylebone, got lost, got hungry, found Burger King, pretended to be American hotshots (We were seriously amazing at it; asking them why their burgers 'over here' were much smaller than the ones we had in 'Uh-Meerikuh'. I know. We're an unstoppable force when we're together). and made our way to what was possibly, one of the most hilarious nights in December. I did not want to leave! We spoke to the most amazing people there, this Italian man who had the most amazing chandeliers and lamps for sale. They were definitely BEYOND my meagre university wages, so we ended up chatting about Nina Simone and jazz music. There were these two ladies at the jewellery stall (We weren't allowed to take pictures of those due to possibility of creativity theft... people stealing jewellery designs and selling them for cheaper than theirs) who were simply amazing; one was swathed in a mixture of couture and high street. By high street, I mean Primark earrings, and then on her finger was a Swarovski RING the size of my face that cost a few thousand quids. I know. You meet cool people at vintage events... When you're not hugging libraries or playing drunk.

My facial expression : priceless. Guy's facial expression: museum worthy. LOL.

So... yeah. The night ended, we drank cocktails, ate prawns and h'orduvres (I've always wanted to say that; makes me feel like an esteemed member of society... Or something), got the bus back home, and spoke about our amazing experience.

Vintage kid forever!

Hehehe... Toodles!

Things I like to focus on...

I've realised something all of a sudden about my fascination with fashion, if I may call it that. It's not so much the clothes designed, or the beauty of the overall collection that attracts me to a designer's artistry, more the knowledge of the message the creator is trying to pass on through his or her medium of expression. Because that is, in my opinion, the main crux of fashion; expressing one's self through an array of pieces brought together to depict a feeling or emotion, or in some cases, tell a story.

Sidebar: This is what I do. I like catwalk shows not because I can see my self clad in a table chair, or crustacean claws as a hat, but more from a literary perspective. Sue my love of Literature for this.

Anyhows. Hello there... Why am I telling you this? Well, because, I am slowly making my way through all the POP magazines my university library has to offer. POP, because well, Vogue is morphing into something my mind cannot comprehend, Harper's Bazaar is pretty much the same as Vogue, and POP has just the right amount of randomness to suit me. A girl's gotta do what she can to survive, right? I know.

So, yeah. POP magazine. Despite its overload of naked...I mean, nude (since naked is more associated with the sexual things in life and nude is what the 'artists' call their overtly showy portraits/photographs of NAKED people... I'm as confused as you are on this. Really confused) women from page to page, the magazine has quite a lot to offer. Like the December '06/ January '07 issue I'm reading right now - Yes. I'm reading it almost four years on, but that is not what we are focusing on. The focus, right now, are the interviews; the ones with John Galliano and Giles Deacon, to be precise. Not a particular avid follower of what these two designers do, but some seasons of theirs do catch my eye on occasion. But given my partiality to people who hail from random- city, I think I might've just fallen in like with Giles Deacon, especially.

"Obvious isn't what we want to do. Concentrated randomness - that's how we work, I suppose. It's those last minute tangents that are often the most interesting."
                                             - Giles Deacon

Giles RTW fall 06; style.com. Halleluyah to the randomness.

"With haute couture, we're challenging people to dream. It's also a laboratory of ideas, where we create pure and undistilled parfum..."
                                            - John Galliano

The last two pictures somehow remind me of Elsa Schiaparelli's collections, somehow. The kookiness of the colours, the hat, right down to the stance. And the bottom one is almost reminiscent of her collaborations with Dali...

Yeah. These are definitely my kinda guys. Random + heavy influx of imagination/dreaming = a very happy me. It's just something else to look forward to, is it not? Randomness is a unique sect of spontaneity, hence why I am such a believer in it. So when you hear, or read designers define their work to you, all of a sudden, what looks like a mahoosive ball of fur/masterpiece of  horror... ahem... Chanel's fall 2010 fur collection, may make sense. Depending on what exactly, the designer says, and how well it resonates with your psyche.

(The Chanel collection is still mystifying to me, whatever anyone may say. WHAT was Lagerfield thinking? That... erm...? NO. Still can't understand it)

Okay. Well. I have said enough for now. Going to keep the countdown alive! Yaaaay to Christmas!!! *face palm*. Ariberderci!

Autumn, is it? ...

At this precise moment, it is 53days, 13 hours and 16 minutes till Christmas! *insert loudest screams of the loudest wavelength and at a frequency made for only whale's ears*

I really cannot explain to you why December (Well. My Christmas starts from October actually. Sue me. I'm just an excited human, okay?) unleashes my inner kid or inner weird, depending on what manner of person you are. Apart from the fact that it symbolises the time of Jesus's birth, and I'm a Jesus person, which automatically validates my excited, over-exaggerated love showing during this time of the year. YEEESSSS!

Sidebar: Am I the only one that is wondering how the hell... I mean, heck, we're in December already? It was January like, only yesterday. Hellllllp!*

But yeah. Hello everybody out there. Christmas is coming!! Which means watching Home Alone whilst home, alone (my wit astounds even me, you know!), Love Actually wholly in anticipation of the 'All I want for Christmas' song at the end, This Christmas (I cried the first time I watched that. Why, I cannot tell you) and inhaling cheesy Christmas music. Literally. Cheesy Christmas songs are just heart warming. As is mulled wine, after a hefty Christmas dinner. Oh cheese strings, I cannot wait!

What would make Christmas so exciting this year would be my dreams of a White Christmas actually occurring. Last year, it was white, except the white was from two days ago. So the'white' was really, murky browny white...  The year before that, it was a white Boxing Day. Dear God, please let it snow this Christmas when I'm inside and warm in my daddy's wellie thermal socks... and *insert other warm items*.

Whilst looking warm is a priority during winter/Christmas, dressing like a Christmas tree is highly important. At least for me it is. Looking like a Christmas tree is always a good look, for starters. Prancing about in colourful clothing is a definite. Overload of jewellery, yes. And by God, layering is ultimate. Seeing as I am somewhat averse to keeping my coat on, or wearing it, for that matter....

Anyhoozies... Here goes. The Christmas look... Inspired by the cast of Annie, Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Vintagey wagey clothing (as always), Christmas trees, and Flower power... I'm sure there are other things, but my memory fails me now... Ohhh Ohhh... and the granny look a la Prada 2010 fall/winter something something...

  ...Because everybody loves Annie.

...Love love love love loooove the jewellery pile on. Smantastically wonderful!

Okay. Um. So byyyyye! Happy new month!!!! I month till Christmasssss!!!!

"...For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given. And the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

Colour Genius. Fashion Icon. Style diva.

I really, REALLY, do not get why people have failed to grasp the unrefined artistry and creativity with which Betty Suarez puts an outfit together. No one dresses like Betty. I've tried to pull off that Betty 'swag' (for lack of another word to describe her uniqueness), and failed. I'm talking the kind of failure where you get points deducted from your exam paper because you cannot even spell your own name right. I know. So I decided to stop being Betty and start being me.

At least, i'm trying these days not to conform to what is expected of me. And I owe Betty Suarez for helping me come to such a vital, epiphanic realisation about myself. And that epiphany is just well, that I should do me, regardless of the consequences. Unle..ss you know, doing you means becoming a sociopath or whatever. Then please do hesitate, think AND refrain from killing that little doggie that went out to play (This is what happens when you let my imagination do the talking...)

But I digress again. Back to Betty.

How can you slate her? Alright. The Guadalajara poncho thing shall remain unnoticed and unspoken of, because well. I'm guessing she was cold and having a bad day, as we all are prone to having.  Probably due to Henry the big fat octopus. Can I get an amen?

And now the whole world is infatuated with vintage all of a sudden, and charity shops are becoming 'thrift stores', and we're all 'geek chicks' and nerdy bookworms. Isn't that amazing. Hence my main problem with the fashion world, or sect shall we call it, since models are still getting salary raises and designer clothes are still in heavy demand DESPITE our economic recline (hello? Am I missing something here? or is this credit crunch hoo ha just a silly hoax?). These people obviously live somewhere else and have a different bank system operating. Hmmm. And these fashionistas/judge panel feel the need to tell you what to wear, how to wear it, how not to wear purple once summer is here, and how grey lipstick is a must have to be an IT - idiot this season. You can tell this philosophy divides my inner core into little subsections and then proceeds to irritate each subsection. How unfortunate.

Anyhowzers, if you have not thought about how smarmazing (Apologies. I cannot seem to get 'Funny Face' off my head since like, forever... 'Swonderful, Smarvellous'...) Betty is, I suggest you do NOW. And be amazed at her fierce sense of self, and her individualism. That is a serious order.

Thanks for listening, (or perhaps not)

Shoulda woulda coulda gonna trya come  back soon! :)

*Christmastime SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

oh dear...

... ermm i've literally, no joke, spent almost the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to change the template of this thing, to sorta make it look slightly appealing. I'm terrible with technology jeez!!! But looking for skins(or backgrounds or whatever they might be called now), sorta reminded me of myspace days, you know, making your myspace page all weird and funky so no-one knows where or how the heck you got such a skin from?

Okayyyyyyy... now i'm babbling. the skin thing made me wonder why i'm even bothering with this thing...no reason, i'm just boredoutmyskinwithnothingtodo *smiles* and I figure why not join the blogging world????

SO, here I am... a bloggerette. not a twitterette, because thats just unecessary if you ask me!!!!! it's no facebook or myspace (or hi5 even... remember that horrific thing!!! *shocked face at ever being part of such* ). Anyyyyyyhoos (I tend to digress an awful lot when i'm a) bored, and b) talking about absolute rubbish!!! :) and it's 3am in the morning, but here I am!!!! creating an ehem *MASTERPIECE* of randomnessss! :)

...I think i'll stop now, and leave the rest for later?

...even though I said nothing worthwhile, or nothing about myself...

but i'll be back! (I hope)

bisousfornow, Loverliesss! :)
